Discussion with U.S.
Congresswoman Judy Biggert
September 20, 2006
On September 18,
2006, Mr. Hansen visited with U.S. Congresswoman Judy Biggert who serves on
the U.S. House Committee on Science
and is Subcommittee Chairperson for Energy and Environment Technology and
Standards.
United States could
achieve Energy Independence in fifteen years. 200 kilograms of antimatter
fuel could replace 1 billion tons of coal, 4 billion barrels of oil (11
million barrels/day), and 6 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Carbon
dioxide and methane levels could be reduced by 3.8 billion tons/year or over
50%. The fossil fuels could be used for making products to bring every
county into the twenty-first century rather than burning them and destroying
Earths environment.
To implement, the old
fossil electrical power plants with an average 30% efficiency could be
replaced with Mirror Power Plants that are three times more
efficient. Off-peak power could produce hydrogen for motor vehicles and
oxygen for commercial applications. The utility companies could supply
hydrogen to service stations by adding hydrogen service pumps for hydrogen
automobiles.
